FAQ's
Introduction & Overview
Aero-Etch is a professional-quality glass and crystal engraving system designed for home use. It uses a sandcarving method (also known as sandblast engraving) to create crisp, permanent designs with fine detail on glass, metal, ceramics, and more.
Aero-Etch was created to introduce makers to the art of sandcarving right at home. Along the way, our patented ‘mini-sandblaster’ has evolved into a versatile, multi-surface tool.
Sandcarving (or sandblast engraving) uses a stream of pressurized abrasive to create detailed, permanent engravings—often preferred by professionals.
Sandcarving produces deeper, clearer, and more detailed engravings compared to traditional surface-level etching methods like cream or rotary tools.
Yes! Aero-Etch produces permanent engravings that won’t fade or wash away with time.
Applications & Compatibility
You can engrave glass, crystal, metal, ceramic, stone, and some wood. Aero-Etch is not recommended for plastic, leather, or acrylic.
No. Powder-coated surfaces are too durable for Aero-Etch, but it works great on plain stainless steel versions.
It can clean or sand wood, but it’s not ideal for fine engraving. For detailed wood designs, laser engraving is recommended.
Product & Power Source
The Aero-Etch Precision Engraving Kit is a handheld sandcarving tool that uses pressurized air and abrasive media to etch crisp, permanent designs into glass, crystal, metal, ceramics, and more.
No! The standard kit is powered by disposable aerosol propellant cans, which makes it completely cordless and portable—no electricity or air compressor needed.
Yes. If you purchase the Compressor Adapter (sold separately), you can connect the Aero-Etch kit to any standard air compressor with a minimum of 0.5 HP and a single-tank setup. This allows for unlimited, continuous engraving.
Aerosol Propellant: Best for portability and quick surface etching.
Compressor Adapter: Ideal for deeper engraving, longer sessions, and multi-stage effects.

Yes, as long as the stencil sticks well and can handle the abrasive stream.
Reusable stencils can work if made from durable, adhesive materials. Highly detailed designs may be better suited to one-time-use stencils.
